oils and medicines

Natural healing has been a sacred tradition in India for thousands of years. The ancient Indians embraced mother nature as the source of all life including medicines to stay healthy and to heal themselves from disease.

The preparation and use of medicinal/herbal oils is an integral part of the healing traditions of India. It was understood that the body and mind can be treated and healed through the application of medicinal oils onto the skins surface. The oils carrying the healing herbs, pass through the skins surface via the pores and enter the underlying tissue and bloodsteam where they travel throughout the whole body imparting healing power to the area in need.

Medicinal oils are made at the Kalari Healing Centre in much the same way as they have always have been made in India. The plant is dried or crushed and the juice extracted. This is added to a base oil such as coconut or sesame oil. The herbs and oils are cooked in this way for up to eight hours over a three day period. The healing herbs literally become part of the oil at which time they can be massaged onto the skin to treat many health issues such as arthritis, headaches, insomnia, chronic and acute pain, skin problems such as dermatitis and eczema
